Carving Pumpkins!

We've got our home all decorated with cobwebs, spiders, pumpkins, candy corn, and window clings (Wyatt's favorite!) We spend the evening last night gutting and carving our pumpkins. It was Wyatt's first pumpkin carving! Wyatt helped Dad cut open the top of his pumpkin, then used his own knife (butter knife!) to clean it up a bit on his own. :)
He helped us "gut" the pumpkin and pick out the seeds from the gunk! After drawing on his pumpkin for awhile, we decided to carve him a train pumpkin -- because he loves trains, but also because I have no idea how to draw/carve a decent car. At least a train is just some circles and some squares! :)
I carved a witch into my pumpkin, which you can't entirely see in the photos. She turned out alright! Dad carved a pretty nice face, complete with pointy nose and tongue sticking out. They looked really great glowing on our front walkway. Wyatt was sure fascinated by the candles inside, admiring the glow, then opening the top to investigate the source.
We all shared some hot cocoa while the pumpkin seeds roasted -- sea salt, ranch, and cinnamon sugar! I think the roasted pumpkin seeds are my favorite part about pumpkin carving!
We had lots of fun, and we're really enjoying the first Halloween that Wyatt kind of knows what's going on. What a difference it makes!
